Trump needs to build his legacy and we need to help him. He pulled off the biggest comeback and won by the biggest margins, like no one thought possible. He deserves his place in history. His advisors are infighting and in it for themselves and their priorities. Trump needs to block out the noise and think about his legacy.
He is right to resist being called a facist. History does not look kindly on fascists. He should take relief in knowing that America doesn't think he is a fascist. He won the popular vote in America, building diverse coalitions like no President has.
Yet, historians and the elites have not looked kindly on him. His triumphant Madison Square Garden rally was derided and he was called racist, misogynistic, and stupid. His weave was mocked for incoherence. The elites said he was exhausted and finished. They called him a small man and dangerous to democracy.
He was not finished, though. He won. Now, he has a chance to prove elites wrong. He has a chance to govern magnanimously and to govern generously. To show how kind he is and to place himself in a long tradition of great American presidents.
When he thinks about which president his legacy will most mirror, he will think about George Washington who bravely stormed forward, fighting against all odds, the father of the United States. He will think about how Washington shocked the country but was widely praised for serving only two terms and retired to the peace of his estate. The greatest presidents are above the fray. The greatest presidents are greater than politics.
He will think about Thomas Jefferson. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence inspired democracies at home and around the world. He will write his Declaration of Independence. He will silence the haters and inspire democracy. He will inspire democracy at home by simultaneously making elections more secure and making it easier to vote. He will inspire democracies abroad by being the protector he knows himself to be. He is flush with power and he will stand against tyranny. He will be the President of the United States of America. He will have no peer abroad and will not be the President that bends America's knee. He will stand, like Jefferson did, for democracy.
He will think about Theodore Roosevelt, as he inherits an economy, bursting with potential and ready for his leadership. He will overcome the mockery of the elites, laughing at him for failed Infrastructure Weeks and praising Biden for his CHIPS Act and IRA. He will do even more infrastructure than Biden. He will bring back more manufacturing jobs, rewarding his loyal supporters. Like those in Arizona who have the new TSMC plant, which he will help more and earn credit for. He will build up America's Space Force and hasten our space exploration. He will build new roads and new bridges, automated ports and nuclear power plants, the new generation of infrastructure. They will be emblazoned like his iconic buildings, "TRUMP", and they will create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
As he thinks about the final face on Mount Rushmore, Abraham Lincoln, he cannot help but compare himself to Lincoln died to the hands of his assassin while he was spared by a single inch. Lincoln freed the slaves. Lincoln preserved the Union. He united America and won the popular vote like no one though possible. He is not a racist and he is not a Nazi. He will finish Lincoln's job. Purge the country of the Confederate Generals naming our forts and buildings and rename them to something befitting the legacy he wants to leave.
He will silence the elites and prove them all wrong. His Presidency will be the most peaceful and the most prosperous. He will not get into squabbles and silliness. He will lead the country with the firmest and the kindness that he knows himself to have. The humility of Washington. A patron of democracy like Jefferson. A builder like Roosevelt. A uniter like Lincoln.
No one remembers their enemies. Everyone remembers them. Trump is currently ranked nearly dead last among US Presidents by historians. To rise to the top, he needs to rise beyond politics. He will lead from above. A small man would fight and squabble and seek retribution. A great man soars above that.
