We are losing high-paying jobs, our supply chains are vulnerable and uncertain, our prices for electronic goods are high, because there is a geographic monopoly on the production of computer chips in China’s backyard. Our military is vulnerable and our economy is under attack — just look at the prices of cars, especially in emergency situations like following the pandemic — because we have no control over the production of computer chips, which many say are the most important product of the economy. Computer chips hold the key to making smartphones, cars, tractors, TVs, and now AI. They are essential for the military and essential for the economy. Making computer chips takes a lot of high-paying jobs too, up and down the value chain. We have previously conceded making computer chips. We are fighting back now with the CHIPS act, and we need to keep fighting to bring back manufacturing jobs, strengthen our economy and strengthen our military.
